EPA RRP Certified
An EPA RRP-certified firm serving Louisville homeowners and rental owners.
If your home or rental was built before 1978, there is a good chance it has lead-based paint somewhere under the newer coats. Lead paint is generally safe while it stays intact. The risk comes when work disturbs it: sanding, scraping, cutting or demolition can create lead dust that settles on floors and windowsills, where young children can swallow it.
That is why federal law requires renovation, repair and painting work that disturbs paint in pre-1978 homes and child-occupied facilities to be done by an EPA-certified firm using lead-safe work practices. Reliabuilt Contracting is an EPA RRP-certified firm.
What RRP-certified work looks like on your job
Before we start, we give the occupants EPA's Renovate Right pamphlet, as the law requires.
We seal off the work area with plastic sheeting and keep foot traffic out.
We use methods that keep dust down: no open-flame burning, no uncontrolled power sanding.
We clean up with HEPA vacuuming and wet cleaning, then verify the area before it is reopened.
We keep the records the rule requires for each job.
Work we do under RRP rules
Interior and exterior painting and paint repair
Window and door replacement, and trim work
Drywall and plaster repair
Kitchen and bath remodels in older homes
Rental turns and make-ready work in pre-1978 units
For rental property owners
If you own a pre-1978 rental, the RRP rule applies to turnover and repair work just as it does to remodeling. Hiring an uncertified contractor puts the risk on you as the owner. We handle rental work every day, so we are used to tight turnover schedules.
